The Sixers took part in last season’s blockbuster trade; the move of NBA All-Star center Dwight Howard to the LA Lakers, from the Orlando Magic. They swapped noted Knick killer, Andre Iguodala, for mammoth center Andrew Bynum, late of the Lakers. Bynum was expected to anchor a squad that needed to take a step forward. It seemed like a retrograde step, with the increased focus on perimeter play because of the new NBA rules on defense. However, the Sixers had some other decent perimeter players, and maybe, just maybe, this move would allow them to ascend into the upper echelon of a relatively weak Eastern Conference.

Yeah, no.

Apparently Bynum’s right knee had been paining him, and that’s why he hadn’t been playing…initially. Now, we come to find out that while Bynum was rehabbing his right knee, he had gone bowling. Bowling. And injured…drum roll folks…his left knee. So apparently, Bynum now has bilateral bone bruises (that’s left AND right, friends) and cartilage weakness in his knees.

From bowling.

Word came down late last week that not only will Bynum not be playing for now, he’s out…indefinitely. They have taken MRI’s of his knees, and they look different from when the Lakers traded Mr. Bynum. So he’s out for a while. No one knows how long. And why?

Because of bowling.

By injuring yourself in a pastime that doesn’t even require playing AGAINST ANOTHER PERSON, Andrew Bynum gets the ‘WTF of the Week.’
